Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

Today I saw, that a few days ago(17.07.2007) Intel announced their new flagship(desktop) – Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850. This little beast is with 4 cores x 3Ghz each. It has 8MB L2 Cache and is using the new 1333MHz system bus. I’ve been waiting for the new Intel CPUs but to my knowledge their absolutely new processors will be available in the winter or the late autumn. So I still do not know if these are the waited ones and will wait a bit more and see what will happen. Most probably I will be aiming at this current flagship, if its price drops down but the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 is the more probable model for me. It’s a lot more cheaper, yet a bit less powerful.

In the meantime – nVidia are preparing their fans for the GF 9xxx series….they will be the real DX10 cards and agan on my wish list. The only problem is that I have to check if I won;t need a new mobo….which will make my investment a bit bigger than I have expected…only the time will show, and what is left is waiting.

In the meantime, you can have a quick read-through this article about the new CPUs from Intel.

And one more thing – AMD seems to lose the market again..this is the second hit from Intel to which AMD are totally unable to answer. I really do not like AMD, yet the competition is important…and they are loosing it. A clear indicator for this is that they fired 3% of their employees which is a lot for a company of their rank. Cross your fingers for their survival…Of course, not because you want to use their products, but in the name of the competition(and no monopoly on this pricey market).
