Upgrade – Step 1
For a long time I was blabbering for my future upgrade of CPU + VGA and now it has started. Why started – because, considering the current market prices, my time left in Rouse and the future expectations of intels new 45nm processors, I decided that the right time for a new CPU has come. Of course, I have planned to get Conroe(Core 2 Duo) as upgrade, so my mobo was ready for it but not for Quad. And the current trend pointed towards Quad, because the duo will be useless soon…even the high 3GHz ones…
So my new additions are Intel Q6600 2,4GHz(code name Kentsfield) and Asus P5K SE. If I decide to overclock this monster to 3GHz per core I will need a solid cooler, so I am thinking of something like Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme but if I decide to leave it as it is I will probably take something like Cooler Master Hyper TX or Arctic Freezer 7 Pro. In the second case – I will clock only if I need to for a specific application and only after Wolfdale’s official launch. This way I will pay less and will clock on time;) But I doubt it that I will need clock in less than year, because Wolfdale is expected to be less than 1 time faster than the current quad processors(and I do not talk about Xtreme).
I hope that soon the new VGAs from nVidia will be out(probably around Crysis) and I will take the middle one fro mthe high class.
