Skype 4.1 – back to basics
A few days ago I installed Skype 4.1. The new version includes all features that were removed with the release of Skype 4.0 and were missed by all of us. Contacts sharing, birthday reminders and Contact groups are back. Still there are many new things added. Have a look at the Skype 4.1 changelog below:
- Screens sharing added – Allowing you to share your screen with other Skype users
- Improved keyboard navigation – Support for visually impaired users, using screen reading software such as JAWS Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) support.
- Contact Importers - Allows you to import more contacts from external address books. Gmail and AOL added.
- Birthday reminders – the once famous feature is back. Do not miss anyone’s birthday
- Send contacts from your own list to other Skype users allowed again
- Highlighting of toll-free phone numbers
- Skype Name Recognition – identifies the names of your Skype contacts if they appear on web pages and allows you to communicate with them via Skype.
- Improvements to the vibrancy of the background color scheme
- Some minor changes to the area shown during a call, containing the volume controls
- Installer improvements – Size and method changed; now using standard MSI
- Improved password rules for better security
- Invite to skype function added – do not leave your friends out of your Skype reach
